Sunlit studio with sketch, yarn, and a bulldog rug in progress on the worktable

The process

From an idea to a unique rug.

Each rug is carefully handmade in my small studio in Japan. Here is a look at the process, from the first sketch to the finished piece.

The steps

Every rug goes through a detailed, hands-on process to make sure it looks great, feels soft, and lasts a long time.

  1. Design & Planning

It starts with an idea — your drawing, a photo, or a concept. I refine the design, discuss the size and colors, and create a clear plan before starting.

  2. Tufting

The design is transferred to a frame, and I tuft it by hand using high-quality acrylic yarn. This creates the soft, textured surface of the rug.

  3. Trimming & Shaping

After tufting, I carefully trim the rug to the right shape and height. This gives the design its clean look and brings out the details.

  4. Finishing & Quality Check

The back is reinforced with a non-slip backing, the rug is cleaned, and I do a final check to make sure everything looks perfect and is ready for your space.

Every rug is one of a kind.

No two pieces are exactly alike. Each rug is made by hand in my studio — shaped by your ideas, my craft, and the small variations that come with real, human work.
